Wahou... More than 200 boats (470 n 420) of 10 countries this year in Imperia ! Coming 420 world championship in SAN REMO, a few milles away is a reason : The light wind, and couple of  "grey" days, including rain on monday did'nt stop fierce fight during these 3 days of competition...

Huge starting line as about 100 open 420) offer a challenge not only for crews but for committee !

No spray and poor light conditions give also a lot of homework in  picture processing and quality loss, but these 1000 pictures on line, with almost everybody, can give a good  idea of action.
 Logistic should climb at level of participation: Some strong improvment could be done as on east side dock for sunday evening rush; but nothing wich can prevent an ambitious european team to participate .

151108 CANNES FRA "Marathon 2015 Nice->Cannes" : 30mn au Moure Rouge 429 pict.

Dimanche 8, comme chaque annee le boulevard Gazagnaire est boucle.  Cette fois, je ne resiste pas a descendre avec le Nikon pour prendre une petite tranche de cette belle epreuve...
...belle par le parcours qui longe la mer et se termine par le tour de la presqu'ile du Palm Beach
...mais belle surtout parce qu'apres de si nombreux kilometres,  c'est la la volonte pure qu'on peut lire sur le visage de chacun.

  Il y a sur ces 4 albums sans watermark 95% des 400 participants qui sont passes devant le Moure rouge ce 8 novembre entre 11h25 et 12h08, juste apres la poignee des tous meilleurs . Ce n'est qu'une petite partie des nombreux participants ... Merci pour le spectacle et Bravo !

150924 NICE TO BARCELONA "Generali Solo 2015" (Figaro solo) aboard Tivicat 671 pict.

Georges, friend, offshore cruiser and cat's maniac

Georges  call me to help him on board of  , TIVICAT, the press-catamaran of the  Generali Solo 2015 .

A good opportunity to discover another world of racing in the heart of a pro-organisation: Pen Duick with brillant race director Gilles CHIORRI, former participant himself.

  On this race,  young sailors as Marc MALLARET can play with superpros as Gildas MORVAN and  offshore glories as Alain GAUTIER  .   

All these 22 singlesailors fight with same monotype "Figaro Beneteau 2" (10m long) during 3 weeks of competition including:

-> Costal dayraces in front of Sete, Nice and Barcelona.

-> 2 offshore passages : Sete to Nice (354 m) and Nice to Barcelona (420 m).

Simple wide angle pictures , mostly about "men at work"and guest aboard Tivicat 

in Nice, Barcelona and offshore with Gilles (boss), Olivia (report), Alexis (photo), Jeff (camera) and Georges,   captain of Tivicat for the event  in absence of the owner, Thierry Peponnet , (470 olympic gold medal Seoul 88) .

Between Nice and Barcelona:

A long waiting party without wind to leave french Riviera, 

then glorious surf before heavy rain with swell  in Barcelona.

This is a game for real sailors,  but not only as they have to fight couple of days later on costal races and olympic type course.

  3 clubs of Cannes : Cannes Jeunesse, Yacht Club de Cannes and Cannes Croisette join force to organize this yearly PACA (Provence Cote d'Azur). This event conclude a serie of all the season regattas and attract a lot of different light boats:  B293, RSX, RACEBOARD, OPTIMIST, MINI J, LASER (4,7-RADIAL n STANDARD), 420, 29er, EUROPE, FINN, TYKA, SL (15,5 n 16), HOBIE CAT 16, "FLOTTE COLLECTIVE"...A short event but a real challenge to organize with 3 race areas, this year in beautiful but sometimes very tricky playground of Cannes.

  Event started on saturday at 14h30 except for Mini J. About 420 and other series, the light east wind offered 2 races and everybody could be on dock before 5h00, early enough for the pasta party. 
   Even with the splashless conditions (around 6kn giving poor conditions for action pictures), this was pleasant to butterfly in all the bay to see new faces, new colors, new situations...but what a pity to miss boards and cats in real action!

Conditions of wind didn't change on sunday and allowed 3 races more ; with a single camera, impossible again to be everywhere to cover seriously the event. Pictures just give an idea of the number of floating objects with smiles on board racing both sides of Palm Beach. Speed is also a challenge to determine for all classes final ranking of the sailing season and to organize the prize giving of these numerous podiums.

What a welcome from the Gendarmes !  

   This remind me the club med of the golden years: The beautiful site without cars, nice view, friendliness as the master world,  and what a lot go "GM" forget, a rigorous teamwork behind all of this with an official photographer; com and protocol were not forgotten with a long local TV report and a real price giving ! 

 It's works very well: Teams from Antibes, Maugio, Aix played together with locals; this time  not only on the water... but on shore around a Petanque and long tables !

 Weather conditions joined the party: Perfect level of water on lake of Serre Poncon, no rain and...a wind ! Who could expect 3 races on the first day with 12k ?

Wind was a bit less generous on 2nd day, but the 420 fleet with the single 28er could enjoy 2 races. 

The light conditions suit best to Lara and Marina from Antibes who choiced the best options....on a single windward sail, you could put half of the fleet behind you ! 
Back on shore, a virgin punch and and a nice dinner were waiting to the competitors...Some guest even tried  the chilly water of the lake !

Lucky last day as sun decided to stay all day long above the lake !  The super volunteer staff rushed to prepare the generous sandwiches despite a late bread delivery and racers could improve their "Petanque"  skills from early morning. The wind delivery arrived a bit later and offered 3 races more.

Ok... the 2 last races were very complicated with more than a part of luck, but with a total of 8 races and such a welcome, this interligue ll stay long in PACA sailors memories !

On this monday, Quentin Dalmasso/Loic Reinhard (picture above) got their best day and won race 7. 

The young team Jules Devic/Lucas Beckers from Maugio (picture right) play well on "special" conditions and finished 1st on the last race of the event.

The classic rivality between the 2 leading Antibes boys' boats Maxime PEDRON/Eliot MICHAL (55095) and Jim VINCENT/Victor MAS  (55096) turned this time to the advantage of the first one. 

  About final result, the boys got the best on girls as Quentin DALMASSO/Loic REIHARD got 3nd place, followed by  Marina LEFORT/Lara GRANIER (4th), Jessie KAMPMAN/ Anael PONTHIEU (5th) and Paola AMAR/Carly PEDRON (6th).
